As we know that Windows 10 OS comes with an inbuilt screen-reading software also known as the Narrator. This feature is specially designed for users with vision issues, but it can be used by anyone. Having the text-to-speech feature, this utility assists blind and visually impaired person to read and understand the web pages, text documents, and other files as well.
This application announces the reasons why any buttons or other controls are not working correctly, for example, ‘no next landmark’ or ‘no next item’. However, it is possible to turn off the Narrator Read Out Errors feature if you don’t want to use it anymore.

How to enable or disable Narrator Read Out Errors
There are two ways using which you can easily turn on or off the Narrator Read Out Error on your Windows 10 computer. These are:
1] Through the Settings app
To turn on or off this feature using settings, follow the below steps:
- Right-click on Start and select Settings.
- Inside the Settings app, go to Ease of Access > Narrator.
- In the right-pane, scroll down and locate the Change what you hear when reading and interacting section.
- Once you find, mark the checkbox next to Hear Narrator announce why an action can’t be performed option. This will turn On the Narrator Read Out Errors on your device.
- Uncheck the box again, if you want to turn Off the Narrator Read Out Errors on your computer.
2] Turn on or off Narrator Read Out Errors using Registry Editor
Alternatively, you can use registry tweak to enable or disable the Narrator Read Out Errors. The procedure is as follows:
- Open Run dialog box using Windows+R keys.
- Type regedit and hit enter to open the Registry Editor window.
- Click on the Yes button if the UAC window appears for your permission.
- On the following page, navigate to the following registry key –
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Narrator
- Next to the right of the Narrator key, click on the blank space, and then select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Name the new key as ErrorNotificationType and then double click on it for modification.
- In the next small window, set the Value data 1 to turn on (enable)the Narrator Read Out Error and if you want to turn off it (disable) then put 0 in the Value data box.
- Click on the OK button to save the changes.
