Fix Diablo 4 Blue Screen Error on Windows PC – 7 Fixes

If you are encountering a blue screen error when opening Diablo 4 or playing games inside it, consider applying the below fixes one after another.

Note: Since you can’t get past this Blue Screen, make sure to boot into Safe Mode first and then attempt the below fixes.

1] Update your Graphics drivers

A blue screen error mostly occurs because of some corruption within your graphics drivers. It is thereby suggested to check for pending driver updates and upgrade them to their latest versions. You may search for driver updates by reaching out to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.

Download and Install Optional updates under Settings

If there are no pending updates available there, you may come back to Windows Update and hit Check for updates. Wait for the system to connect online and retrieve pending updates for your graphics drivers. In case, this also fails to report available updates, you may directly visit NVIDIA or AMD’s official sites and download the latest patches for your Windows PC.

2] Verify Game Files

There’s a possibility that some of the game files have become corrupted or have gone missing, causing a blue screen error while playing games in  Diablo 4. To fix this, you may use the game launcher or platform (such as Battle.net) to verify the integrity of the game files and repair any issues with them.

3] Check for System Updates

In order to avoid any error codes or issues while playing games in Diablo 4, you must keep your system and all related apps up to date. First of all, check if there are any pending updates to your system and then available updates by visiting Microsoft Store > Library.

Do also update the game itself if there’s a new version available online. Keeping Windows and related Components up to date really helps to improve the gameplay and resolve compatibility issues.

4] Adjust in-game settings

Diablo 4 is a high-end game and to play this, you must have access to the right processor, sufficient disk space, and Memory. If you are playing this game on a low-end computer, you are bound to get into some error codes one way or another.

If this indeed is the case, make sure to lower the graphics settings in Diablo 4. Doing so reduces the strain on your system and thus resolves the blue-screen type error codes.

5] Check your System Temperature

Playing high-end games on Windows PC often shoots up the temperature of the desktop/laptop. Overheating of a device will then cause system instability and lead to blue screen errors. There are several tools available offline that you may use to monitor the temperature of your device’s surface.

6] Run a Memory Test

Diablo 4 Blue Screen Error may also arise if you are using some faulty RAM modules. Go and check if your Memory is all okay or requires a replacement. Here’s how –

  • Press Windows + S, and search for Memory.
  • Double-click on the top result i.e. Windows Memory Diagnostic.
  • When this tool opens up, select the first option i.e. “Restart now and check for problems.”

  • The system will restart next and begin checking for the underlying causes on your PC.
  • Wait till this memory diagnostic completes its scanning/repairing work.

After this is over, you will get a clear idea of whether to replace the Memory card or if you can continue using that.

7] Check for hardware issues

Blue screen errors may also occur because of faulty hardware components. For example, you are connected to a failing power supply, using a defective graphics card, or your hard drive has been corrupted. Inspect your hard disk for possible bad sectors on it by utilizing the CHKDSK tool. Here’s how to go for this solution –

  • Press Windows + R to launch the Run dialog.
  • Type CMD on it and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys to open CMD as administrator.
  • When the UAC window prompts, hit Yes to authorize accessing it.
  • On the elevated console, type the following, and press Enter –

chkdsk c: /f /r

  • If your root drive differs from the C:\ drive, replace the letter “C” with the appropriate drive letter.
  • CHKDSK will ask if you really want to initiate a disk checkup next, type Y, and then press the Enter key.
