1. Check System Specifications

Whenever a new Feature Update of Windows 10 is released by Microsoft, it also uploads the minimum system requirements. Checking the system specifications is important as otherwise, your PC may get into different bugs or errors including 0x800707E7.

Lately, Windows 10 version 21H1 got released and require the following system specifications –

  • Processor –  1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster compatible processor or System on a Chip (SoC).
  • RAM – 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit.
  • HDD Storage – A minimum of 32 GB Disk Space.
  • Graphics card – compatible with DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver.
  • Display – 800*600.

In case you are on an older version of Windows 10, use these steps to check what system specs your PC must have to avoid any issue.

  • First of all, reach out to the path below –

Settings (Win + I) > System > About

  • Once you are there, check your device specifications on the right pane. Next, visit the official site and match the data above with the system requirements for a particular version of Windows 10.

Device Specifications

If you do meet the above system requirements, it is safe to say the error 0x800707E7 – 0x3000D must be occurring because of other reasons.

2. Delete Useless User Accounts

NVIDIA Drivers get updates from the GeForce server, and for this NVIDIA creates several user accounts (normally hidden) to control the update-related activities. These fake user accounts are the main reason why Windows 10 fails to upgrade and instead throws an error 0x800707e7-0x3000D. So, if you do want to install a new feature update on your device, make sure that these wrongly created user profiles are deleted correctly.

Uninstall NVIDIA Drivers

You need to first uninstall all NVIDIA-related drivers such as Graphic card, Network Adapter, Sound, Display Adapter, Video-Game Controllers, etc. To do so, use these steps –

  • Press WinKey + R to launch the Run dialog.
  • Type “devmgmt.msc” and press Enter.
  • When Device Manager opens up, click “>” to expand each section and find if it contains any NVIDIA-related drivers or not. If it does, right-click on the particular device driver, and hit Uninstall device. For Example – Display Adapter > NVIDIA Display Graphic Card.
  • Likewise, do the same for all other NVIDIA-based drivers installed on your computer.
  • DON’T restart your PC now as the removed drivers will automatically get re-installed.

Delete Unusual User Account

After uninstalling all the NVIDIA-based drivers, you should now delete all the user accounts that were created by NVIDIA. Here’s how the process goes –

  • Press Win + E to open the File Explorer.
  • Right-click on “This PC” and select properties.
  • Doing so will take you to the About section under Settings > System.
  • On the extreme right, you will find a link – “Advanced System Settings”, click on it.

Advanced System Settings

  • When the System Properties window opens up, go to the Advanced tab.
  • Click Settings under the User Profiles section.

  • You may find a list of wrongly created user accounts on the User profiles window.
  • Select the profile that you want to remove and hit the Delete button. If you do find any other suspicious user profile not created by you, delete it as well.
  • Next, go to C:\Users\ and delete the user profiles that you have recently removed from your device.

Since the user profile information is also stored on the registry, you must delete them as well. Do the following to delete user profile information on the registry –

  • Press Windows key and S to launch the Search window.
  • Type “regedit” and hit Enter.
  • When the Registry Editor launches, browse to the path below –

3. Remove Third-Party Conflicting Software

The error 0x800707E7 – 0x3000D may also occur because of some third-party apps installed on your PC. Windows 10 doesn’t allow installing a poorly coded program due to reasons unknown. It could be compatibility issues, security purposes, or some other reasons.

However, users can always override this and install the software that they think is safe. Not always, but such apps can trigger different errors when you try to update, install, or upgrade Windows 10. So, if you had installed any 3rd-party app right before getting this error, uninstalling it might fix the issue.

4. Use System Restore

In case you do have created a system restore point some time back in the past, you may use this backup to get rid of the Error 0x800707E7 – 0x3000D. Here’s how to use system restore points in Windows 10.

5. Clean Install Windows 10
