Windows 10 1607 KB5014702 Security Update June 2022

As part of Patch Tuesday, Microsoft released a new cumulative update KB5014702 for Windows 10 version 1607. It can be downloaded either from Windows Update or from the Update Catalog website. Alternatively, you can check your computer’s Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for pending updates. There are various fixes and improvements included in this cumulative update. Also, the OS has a new Build number, 14393.5192.

  • The Group Policy provides an administrator with the ability to enable customers to use the Ctrl+S (Save As) keyboard shortcut while using Microsoft Edge IE Mode.
  • The Patch Tuesday resolves an issue that prevents printing from working correctly for some low-integrity process apps.
  • It resolves an issue that causes LowIL applications to fail when trying to print to null ports.
  • You can no longer sign in to Citrix servers that enable the interactive logon: Your security policy must be set to require smart cards.
  • Corrects issues that lead to mismatches between the keyboard of a Remote Desktop session and the client of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
  • Fixes a problem that prevented the file system control code (FSCTL_SET_INTEGRITY_INFORMATION_EX) from managing the input parameter appropriately.
  • For the Microsoft File Server Shadow Copy Agent Service, this update addresses an elevation of privilege (EOP) vulnerability. In order to be protected and functional, the application server and file server must both be updated to the June 14, 2022, or later Windows update. Application servers run data-storing applications that utilize VSS-aware Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) shares on a file server.

File shares are hosted on the file server. The update needs to be installed on both roles for backup operations to work, otherwise, applications that have previously worked may fail. For the Microsoft File Server Shadow Copy Agent Service, this update addresses an elevation of privilege (EOP) vulnerability. In order to be protected and functional, the application server and file server must both be updated to the June 14, 2022, or later Windows update. Application servers run data-storing applications that utilize VSS-aware Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) shares on a file server.

1] Through Windows Update

To download KB5014702, please follow these steps:

  • Press Windows+I to open Windows Settings.
  • From there, select Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Next, select Check for updates.
  • It will automatically download and install the update.
  • Then, restart your computer.

2] Microsoft Update Catalog

A user can search the Microsoft Update Catalog manually if the automatic search fails to locate a patch. Below are steps for doing so:

  • Visit the Microsoft Update Catalog.
  • Type KB5014702 in the text field and press Enter.
  • Then, click the Download button to select your system’s architecture (x86, ARM64, x64).
  • You can then download KB5014702 by clicking the link at the top.
  • Install the .MSU file after downloading.

3] Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)

If Windows 10 is selected as a product in the classification Security Updates, WSUS will automatically sync with Windows 10.
