Well, you just encountered a blue screen of death error (BSOD) and this will prohibit you from logging in to your computer. In this tutorial, we are going to discuss all possible reasons that may cause this stop error along with five working fixes.

Such errors mostly occur because of a corrupted disk drive, damaged RAM, or an outdated device driver. Before proceeding to the solutions, make sure to first check the hard drive and RAM for possible corruptions. If none found, you may either use restore points or clean install Windows 10. Let’s explore the solutions in detail –

Fix: INVALID_KERNEL_HANDLE Error 0x00000093

If you are not able to log into your device because of Blue Screen Error 0x00000093, try applying the below in a sequence –

1] Deattach external devices and restart your PC

We all love plugging in several external devices to our computer even if they are not in use like Printers, Speakers, etc. Any bug in those devices may also create trouble getting past the login screen. So, all you need is to unplug all such devices and restart your PC. When your device reloads, check if you are still getting that Blue Screen error or not.

For Desktop Users only: If you are getting this error while booting up Windows 10, try performing these steps –

  • Shut down your PC and unplug all the wired connections.
  • Switch off the Power Supply to the computer.
  • Open CPU Cabinet and remove the cables connected to the hard drive.
  • Clean the cables for possible dirt and hard disk as well.
  • Re-attach the cables back to their specific ports on the hard drive.
  • Restart your computer and see if it resolves the blue screen error or not.

Note: The above method is applicable in all Blue Screen-type errors.

If you getting this error on your laptop, don’t try the above steps unless you have expertise in opening the laptop properly.

The rest users need to boot into the Safe mode on their computers and apply these solutions one after another.

2] Inspect hardware for errors

The blue screen error mostly occurs due to hard drive corruption including error 0x00000093. So, go and check if the hard disk on your PC is working fine or not. To do so, use these steps –

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin).
  • On the elevated console, type “chkdsk C: /f /r /x” and press Enter.
  • If the root drive is different on your PC, use the designated drive letter like “D:” or “E:”.
  • You will get a message that CHKDSK cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Just type “Y” and press Enter again.
  • Now, restart your PC and the CHKDSK starts scanning/repairing the whole disk drive.

  • When the above scan completes, reboot your PC and see whether the problem still exists or not.

3] Check RAM to fix BSOD error 0x00000093

At times, issues inside the system’s RAM might also start the blue screen error 0x00000093 on your computer. So, you must check the Random Access Memory for possible corruptions. Here’s how to check RAM in Windows 10 –

  • Press WinKey + S.
  • Type “Windows Memory Diagnostic” and double-click over the top result.

  • Select the first option i.e. Restart now and check for problems (recommended).
  • Let the system restarts and initiate a RAM check on your computer.
  • If this scan reports any issue on the Memory card, you must replace the RAM to avoid any further issues.

4] Update all your drivers

In case, neither your hard drive nor your RAM scan reports any serious issue, the error 0x00000093 might be appearing due to outdated or obsolete device drivers.

If you are already on Windows 10 19H2 or the latest version, you may solve this issue by updating all drivers at once. Here’s how to do this –

  • At first, browse to the path – Settings (Win + I) > Update & Security.
  • Click Windows Update and look for a link with the name “Optional Update“.
  • When found, click over it once.
  • Next, select all device adapters that require an update, and hit Update All.

In case you don’t find the above link inside Windows Update or are on a previous version of Windows 10, update the drivers via Device Manager.

  • Press Win + R.
  • Type “devmgmt.msc“, and hit OK.
  • When Device Manager opens up, look for a yellow exclamation mark left of the available drivers.
  • Right-click over the outdated or problematic one, and hit Update driver
  • Subsequently, hit “Check for updates online” and wait for the system to download and install the pending updates on your device.
  • Once over, restart your PC so that the changes made become effective from the next logon.

5] Boot into Advanced Recovery Environment and restore PC

If none of the above workarounds help to resolve this issue, and you do have a restore point on your device, follow these steps –

  • Navigate to the path – Settings > Update & Security.
  • Select Recovery on the left pane and head over to the right pane.
  • Click Restart Now under the Advanced Startup section.
  • When Windows boot into the Advanced Recovery Environment, proceed as follows –

Advanced Options > troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore

  • Select the latest restore point available so that your PC reverts back to a point wherein everything was running normally.

Tip: If you have not created any restore point on your device, use the Startup Repair option instead after visiting the path above.

I hope the error 0x00000093 stands resolved by now. If not, you are left with only one option i.e. Clean install Windows 10 on your device.

That would be all.
