To play any games on Xbox, you must sign in with the owner account with which you purchased the subscription to the game. Failing to do so while starting Xbox may trigger an error code 0x82D40007. 1] Sign in as Owner
To play games on Xbox, one needs to use his/her account on which s/he has purchased the subscription. In case someone else has bought a game, either have them sign in so that you can play or have them set your console as their own home Xbox. Here’s how you can set your PC as the Owner’s home Xbox –
- First of all, launch Xbox and let the owner sign into his/her account.
- Press the Xbox button to launch the Guide.
- Now, navigate to the path below and set this PC as your home Xbox.
Profile & System > Settings > General > Personalization > My home Xbox
2] Check Subscription Validity
If even after signing into your subscription account, you are getting errors like 0x82D40007, check the validity of the current subscription. In case you found it expired or is locked due to some outstanding balance, you need to clear that first. Else, you won’t be able to access any games on the Xbox console. Here’s how can you check that –
- Ask the owner to sign in to their official Microsoft account.
- Go to the Services & Subscriptions page next and see the validity of the current subscription.
- If this has expired, hit Renew. Most of the time, it’s because a trial subscription has expired. Well, you can always a new subscription by visiting Microsoft Store.
Note: In case you find an outstanding balance here, pay the due amount and the Xbox starts working again without any error code 0x82D40007.
3] Purchase the game
If you were playing the Xbox game on a trial basis, the gameplay will no longer be available as soon as the trial ends. In such cases, all you can do is visit Microsoft Store and purchase that game.
