How to Reset Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11

A few days back or even today, there are users who use third-party tools called “Workstations” to run Android apps on Windows. A few examples that make this possible are Bluestacks, LDPlayer, NOX Player, and many others. With Windows 11 now available for the general public, Microsoft suggested all its users get Play store apps directly from Windows Subsystem for Android.

This platform is still not available for users residing outside the USA officially. Yet, there are users who have already installed this platform and are running several games, or apps (which matter) on their PCs. As this project is still under development, users are prone to get into bugs or errors every now and then.

In case you are also getting some issues using Android apps on Windows, reset Windows Subsystem for Android, and see if this helps. This way you will get the WSA at its factory defaults and hence no issue. To reset WSA, you may either use the app itself or locate/reset this app inside Windows Settings.

Here’s how you may reset Windows Subsystem for Android on your newly installed Windows 11 PC –

1] Reset Windows Subsystem for Android from the app itself

The default way to reset the “Windows Subsystem for Android” is by using the app itself. Here’s how can you perform this task –

  • First of all, open Windows Subsystem for Android.
  • Go to its Settings page, and locate Reset to defaults.
  • When you do find this option, click the Reset button.

That’s it, the app will purge all its stored cache or other additional data. This way, you will bring this app to its factory state. Restart your PC next and see if it resolves the issues that you were struggling with.

2] Repair/Reset WSA via Windows Settings

In case you were not able to start this Windows Subsystem, you may reset it using local settings as well. To do so, use these steps –

  • Press Win + I to launch the Settings app.
  • Go to Apps > Apps & Features.
  • Head over to the right pane and scroll down to Windows Subsystem for Android.
  • Click the three dots beside this item, and hit Advanced options.
  • On the succeeding window, scroll down to the Reset section and hit Repair.
  • Now, check if the android apps start working alright or not.

In case they are still not functioning properly, re-visit the Reset section. This time, hit the Reset button instead of “Repair”.

By doing so, the WSA app will return to its original state and thus you should have no problems running any Android apps on Windows 11.
