Windows 11 June 2022 Security patch update is now available for all users under the name “KB5014697”. Apart from improving the overall security of Windows Components and Microsoft services, this update brings the leftover fixes that were a part of the previous month’s cumulative update i.e. KB5014019.

Known Issues in this Cumulative Update

Till now, Microsoft has confirmed the following issues after you install this security patch on your computer. 

  • A few .NET Framework 3.5 apps might face difficulty opening. The affected apps are known to be using certain optional components in .NET Framework 3.5. For example, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components.

As a workaround, you may re-enable .NET Framework 3.5 and the Windows Communication Foundation in Windows Features. You may do this either via Control Panel, or simply run the below codes on an elevated Command Prompt having admin rights –

  • dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all
  • dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation
  • dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation

How to download and install KB5014697 

As usual, you will receive a notification via Windows Update stating that a new update is available for download. If not, you may visit Settings > Windows Update and hit Check for updates. The system will connect to Microsoft servers and download/install the pending update.

Do I need to separately download and install SSU for this LCU?

If you are going to install this update via Windows Update, the latest servicing stack update i.e. 22000.702 will install automatically. So, you need not worry about that. However, if you decide to install the latest cumulative update on your PC manually, you must ensure your device is upgraded to this SSU version.
