How to Force Restart iPhone 14

Apple’s iPhone 14, 14 Plus, and Pro are now available for all users with its Pro Ma version set to release sometime mid in October this year. If you have purchased an iPhone or are planning to do so, you must know how can you force restart your iPhone 14 when the need arises.

When you perform a force restart, this instantly kills all the apps running in the background. As a result, you can fresh start your Apple device. Before we proceed to see the how-to section, let’s first analyze why it is important.

Force Restart iPhone 14

Why do we require force restarting the iPhone?

iPhone works quite differently when compared to Android where you receive both options to restart your device or shut down it for some time. Normally, it’s all easy to shut down your iPhone and restart it. As it doesn’t take more than 3-4 seconds in booting up, you can leave the idea of restarting your iPhone.

However, if your device is behaving strangely, or crashes way too many times, it’s better to turn it off completely. A force restart on iPhone helps to solve problems that otherwise seem complex. Meanwhile, one may also use this way to reset his/her iPhone.

How do I Force Restart my iPhone 14?

If you want to force restart your iPhone 14, do the following –

  • Quickly press and release the Volume up button.
  • Quickly press and release the Volume down button.
  • Press and hold the Apple Lock/Side key until you see the Apple Logo.

It is important to cautiously press and release both Volume up and down buttons and then stick to pressing the Side key. In the meantime, you will see a slider that can power off your iPhone. Ignore this and continue pressing down the Side key unless your iPhone screen goes dark.

As soon as you see the Apple logo, release the Side button, and this will force “restart your iPhone 14”. It is safer to shut down iPhone than restart it. This is evident from the fact that any more or less pressing the Volume Up/Down buttons or the Side key will activate the Emergency SOS.

Since you don’t want to unnecessarily alarm your emergency contact with some SOS message, practice restarting your iPhone several times. I hope you master force restarting your iPhone as soon as possible.

How do I shut down my iPhone?

To shut down your iPhone, press the Lock/Side and Volume Up buttons simultaneously. When the Slider to power off your device appears, slide it to the right. Your iPhone will soon shut down. Wait for a few seconds and press the Side key again. Your iPhone will power On in a matter of 2-3 seconds.

Alternatively, one may also shut down his/her iPhone via Settings. Tap the Settings icon on your iPhone, and select General. Scroll down to the bottom and hit Shut down. A Slider will appear here as well. Slide it to the right to shut down your iPhone.

That would be all. I hope you learn how to force restart or shut down your iPhone 14 base version, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max.
