How to continue where you left off Chrome, Firefox, or Edge

By default, all web browsers (Chrome, Mozilla, or Edge) kill the previously opened tabs and perform a fresh start. This could be a good as well as bad thing depending upon personal needs. If you don’t want to let go and continue where you left off on Chrome, read this article till the end. We will also look into ways to enable opening the recently closed tabs on Mozilla and Edge.

If you don’t want to continue where you left off on Chrome, Mozilla, or Edge, you may use a trick to open the recently closed tabs or windows. This is less of a trick and more of a keys combination. Launch your default browser and press Ctrl + Shift + T. Using this hotkey will open all the tabs that were previously closed (right when you terminate your browser).

How to continue where you left off Chrome

If you want all your previous tabs on Chrome to reopen when you click on this browser, do the following –

  • When this launches, click the three vertical dots (available on the top right end) and select Settings.
  • Choose the “On startup” option from the left navigation, and head over to the right pane.
  • Check the radio button – “continue where you left off” and close Google Chrome.

Mozilla Firefox also allows opening the previously opened tabs and windows right when you click on this browser. However, the steps to do so vary in this case. If you are interested in opening previous tabs and windows on Mozilla firefox, do the following –

  • Click on the three horizontal lines available at the top right end and select Settings.
  • Select General, and tick the box “open previous tabs and windows“.

  • No need to save this configuration as all this requires is restarting Mozilla Firefox.

Do so and you will find all your previous tabs opening as soon as you launch the firefox browser.

Open tabs from the previous session on Edge

If your prime web browser is Microsoft Edge, you need to make the following changes to activate opening the previous tabs or windows on it.

  • Launch Microsoft Edge and click the three horizontal dots (top right corner).
  • When this expands, select Settings
  • From the left navigation, select “Start, home, and new tabs” and jump to the right pane.

Open tabs from the previous session on Edge

  • Under “When Edge restarts”, mark the option – Open tabs from the previous session.

Microsoft Edge even provides you an option that allows opening certain pages whenever it restarts.

I hope, now you are able to open all your previous tabs at once on your favorite browser i.e. Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
