How to enable or disable Full-Screen Start Menu in Windows 10

Do you know that the Start Menu offers enabling full-screen mode on Windows 10 PC? Well, if you love grouping similar items together, you may enable this feature of Start Menu on your computer as well. You might have seen it already, but, don’t know the proper ways to do so or its pros. If this feature gets activated automatically and you don’t want to use this anymore, read on how to disable the Full-Screen Start Menu on Windows 10 device.

The first thing enabling which will surely activate this is the tablet mode. After turning on the full-screen mode, you can no longer access the all apps list on the left pane. Instead, launching the Start Menu will take you to the pinned tiles section wherein you can see all pinned items on your device. Let’s explore how to perform the preferred task –

How to Disable the Full-Screen Start Menu 

Usually, the full-screen Start Menu activates when you use the tablet mode on your computer. Once enabled, this remains as it is and requires turning off manually. If you are facing difficulty in operating the new Start Screen, you may follow the below steps to disable the full-screen Start Menu –

  • Use WinKey + I to launch the Settings app.
  • Click Personalization > Start.
  • Jump to the right side and turn off the toggle switch next to Use Start full screen.
  • Once you complete the above steps, the Start Menu will return to its normal size. Besides, you may now see all apps enlisted on the left pane as well.

How to Enable Full-Screen Start Menu

If you use several applications quite often on Windows 10, then you may find this feature of the Start Menu very interesting. Using the full-screen mode, you may categorize programs into groups or sub-groups. Here’s how to enable this mode on your computer –

  • First of all, browse to the path below –

Settings (Win + I) > Personalization > Start

  • Head over to the adjacent pane and slide the Use Start full-screen toggle switch to the right.

  • Now that you have enabled this feature, opening the Start menu will fill the entire screen. By default, the full-screen Start Menu lands on the pinned tiles section. See the Snapshot below –

Note: To see all apps, you may click on the tab available just below the Pinned tiles.

As stated above, you may choose to create new groups and add programs to it. To do so, just select and drag the available icons on the current Start page.
