1] Turn Windows features on
Sandbox issues mainly occur when the Windows featured are turned off on your computer. So, re-enable this feature and you will find Sandbox working as it is supposed to. Here’s how to perform this task –
- Go to Start and type Control panel.
- Click on the same result and let the app opens up.
- From the list of options, select “Programs and features”.
- Now switch to the left column and click on the Turn Windows features on or off option.

2] Uninstall the recently installed cumulative update
If you have installed a security or optional update on your PC and Sandbox issues start appearing afterward, you must uninstall that buggy update. There is a possibility that you have downloaded a problematic update and hence Sandbox is not working properly on your computer.
Here’s how to locate and uninstall the latest update on your PC –
Step-1: Press the Win logo and I hotkey together to launch settings.
Step-2: Select Update & security > Windows Update (on the left navigation).
Step-3: Switch to the right-hand side and tap the Update History button. Doing so will display a list of recently installed cumulative updates.
Step-4: Now click on the Uninstall Updates and the system will redirect you to the Control Panel.
Step-5: Choose the update that you would like to remove and hit Uninstall.
After removing the patch update successfully on your computer, your system will restart automatically. Wait for a few seconds and check if the Sandbox starts working normally now.
3] Reinstall Sandbox
Windows Sandbox is a feature of Premium edition like Pro, Enterprise, or Student. This was first incorporated into Windows via Build update 18305. Since it was a very old update, you can’t find this update on your PC. There’s another way to remove Sandbox on your computer.
Do this and check if this resolves the Sandbox issues on your Windows PCs. Here’s how to perform this task –
- First of all, install Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, Insider build 18305 or newer version.
- Now go to Cortana and type Settings, click on the same result to open the app.
- Hit the App category hence forth Apps & Features.
- Scroll down the cursor and click on the Programs and Features option.
- Now click on Turn Windows Features on or off then enable the Windows Sandbox option.
- Lastly, click OK and wait until the System enables the Windows Sandbox.
To start Windows Sandbox, go to Start and enter Windows Sandbox then hit the Enter key. Now you would be able to work with the Sandbox.
