Microsoft announced bringing its next feature update and that comes as Windows 11 version 23H2. They’re bringing it as a smaller update package first, which will come as a beta update, KB5028247. This is currently available under Winver and users might get to see its preview release by September 2023.
Windows 11 23H2 will be available for all users by the end of October month, this year. As of now, you can only install its beta version by becoming a Windows insider.
The best thing about this update is that it is based on the same code as Windows 11 22h2. Just like previous cumulative updates, users may upgrade their PCs to version 23h2 just by installing the Enablement Package. This means that you don’t have to go through a major update process time and again.
What’s more interesting is that the Enablement Package is just a few kilobytes in size. So, it will be quite easy to download and upgrade to the available Build versions.
Moment 3 has already been introduced in an earlier security update. So, we can assume, from here onward, we will get to see the Moment 4 update with this new version of Windows 11.
This approach has a couple of advantages. Firstly, it’s more convenient for users since they won’t have to deal with a large update. Secondly, Microsoft can provide optional or security updates for both Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2, just like they did for Windows 10 users from version 19041 to 19045.
With this update coming in late September or early October, it will be interesting to see what new features users get their hands on. All in all, it sounds like a relaxed and user-friendly way to introduce the new features of Windows 11 23H2 without causing any major disruptions.
